Quality & Safety

We do not compromise on quality

We have been manufacturing Notrax® floor matting for industrial and commercial applications for 70 years. Our vast experience has taught us that a superior quality product will stand the test of time. All Notrax® matting is therefore manufactured of the highest quality material and workmanship.

Our best-selling products continue to exceed the expectations of our customers and distributors by meeting specific quality criteria of durability, comfort, and safety. Our most important criteria when developing a product remains to solve a problem. Whether, comfort, and relief for standing workers, grip in environments that are slippery, protection from static or electricity, durability in the toughest industrial environments, etc.

We also provide a product warranty against any defects in material and manufacture.

Product Safety Testing

To adhere to these strict durability and safety requirements, all Notrax® products endure rigorous testing by independent test facilities to certify that each mat meets the highest norms and standards.

Standard Testing for Anti-Fatigue Matting

We rank our products in a Good - Better - Best - Superior chart based on standard test results to help our customers select the right matting product for their work application and environment.

Anti-fatigue matting is ranked based on:

Anti-fatigue Properies

Indicates the degree of comfort a mat provides. This test starts by measuring the original thickness of a mat. Then compression is applied and the thickness under this load is measured again. The difference between the two measurements is called deflection. The higher the pointer in the test chart, the better its anti-fatigue properties.

Slip Resistance

Indicates the slip resistance of a mat. This test measures the force required to cause slippage of a load across the surface material. The coefficient is the ratio of the force required divided by the weight. The higher the pointer in the test chart, the greater the coefficient of friction ratio, thus the better the slip resistance of a mat.

Wear Resistance

This indicates the time it takes for a mat to lose its functionality. This is an accelerated wear test where the results are expressed in total weight loss of material when subjected to 5000 cycles under an abrasion wheel. The higher the pointer in the test chart, the greater its resistance to wear.

Specialized Testing

Specialized anti-fatigue and safety matting compounds are subjected to additional testing and certification for specialized use and applications. Test certifications are available for distributors in the online resources and are provided to clients on request.

Fire Testing: European EN 13501-1

European Union fire classification ranking of Bfl-S1 (difficult to ignite, previously German B1). Tested by a specialized independent laboratory for fire behavior. Some matting is also tested according to the American fire testing standards namely Critical Radiant Flux (ASTM E648-94

Electrical Resistance: ANSI/ASTM D-178

Every square inch of the switchboard matting is tested in conformance with ANSI / ASTM D-178 specifications. Class 2: Dielectric Strength: 30,000 Volts.

ESD Dissipative or Conductive Properties: IEC61340-4-1

Static dissipative or static conductive characteristics for Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) protection. This is tested by Resistance to Ground (Rg) and Resistance to Point (Rp).

Oil & Chemical Resistance

Matting is resistant to most industrial oils, vegetable oils, and grease. A Chemical Resistance Chart is also available for specific resistance to industrial chemicals such as acids, solders, oils, and cleaning chemicals.

Fire Resistance to Welding Sparks

Tested according to the American fire testing standards namely Critical Radiant Flux (ASTM E648-94A). This test measures the level of radiant heat energy required to sustain flame propagation according to the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards.

Standard Testing for Dust Control Matting

Dust Control Entrance matting is ranked based on:

Water Retention Properties

Indicates the moisture retention of an entrance mat during actual usage. The higher the pointer in the test chart, the more litres of water per square meter that can be contained within the mat.

Crush Resistance

Indicates the time it takes for a mat to lose its attractive appearance and functionality. This test simulates the wear an entrance mat will receive under normal foot traffic. The higher the pointer in the test chart, the greater its resistance to wear and crushing.

Dust Control

Indicates the amount of debris an entrance mat can capture, hold and hide during actual usage. The effectiveness of this function is owed to a combination of manufacturing techniques and the quality of yarns used. The higher the pointer in the test chart, the more debris is scraped off shoes.

Specialized Testing

Specialized dust control matting is subjected to additional testing and certification for specialized use and applications. Test certifications are available for distributors in the online resources and are provided to clients on request.

REACH

REACH is the European Community Regulation on Chemicals and their safe use.

Notrax® does not use any substances included on the SVHC (Substances of Very High Concerns) list under REACH, including Di-octyl phthalate (DOP) plasticizer.

DOP stands for Dioctyle Phthalate which is an additive used to cheapen vinyl compounds. It is slowly released into the air, leached into soil, water, or liquids/foods. Direct exposure can cause serious health problems. All Notrax® products are free of this substance.

PAH

Notrax® rubber matting products have been tested by TUV SUD in the Netherlands and have received a certified Category 3 rating. This means that our products contain less than <1 mg/kg of PAHs and meet the new guidelines set by the AtAV.
